Short answer: for a South African team with reps on the road, pick an app that works with no signal, proves visits with GPS, sends the report to the office automatically and keeps a SARS logbook. Check whether it is priced in Rand and where it stores your data. If your reps also sell on the phone or WhatsApp, capture those on the same customer record. Orbit SA does all of that from R800 per rep per month. Below, it is compared fairly with the other main options.
Rural routes, basements and load shedding take towers down. Visits, forms and photos must save on the phone and sync later, or reps stop using the app.
A check-in button proves little. Look for a visit verified by GPS at the customer's location and tied to the report filed there, plus a replay of the rep's day.
Custom forms with photos and signatures, and a PDF in the manager's inbox the moment the rep taps submit.
SARS expects a logbook of business trips (date, where, why, kilometres) and opening and closing odometer readings. An app that records trips anyway should produce it.
South African customers order and complain on WhatsApp and the phone. If those conversations sit outside the CRM, the record is incomplete.
Dollar pricing goes up every time the rand weakens. Check the currency, setup fees, minimum terms and which plan unlocks the features you need.
Rep location and customer data are personal information. Ask where the data is hosted, who can see it, and how reps are told what is collected.
Most field teams carry mid-range Android phones. Check battery and data use, and whether there is an iPhone app if you need one.

It depends on what your reps do. If they visit customers and you need proof of each visit, a report in the office and a SARS logbook, and they also take calls and WhatsApps, Orbit SA covers all of it in one Rand price. If they mainly take orders into Sage Evolution or SYSPRO, look at Skynamo. If you sell from a desk through inbound marketing, HubSpot fits better.
Published prices in October 2026 run from about $19 per user per month (Rocksoft) to R499 to R1,039 per user (Geo Rep) and R800 to R1,800 per rep (Orbit SA). Some vendors only quote on request. Also check setup fees (Geo Rep from R10,000; HubSpot $1,500 to $3,500 on higher plans), required admin licences, and whether the price is in Rand or dollars.
The good ones do. Orbit SA, Skynamo, Geo Rep and Rocksoft all capture visits and forms offline and sync later. HubSpot's mobile app needs a connection to create or edit records.
Location is personal information under POPIA, so tracking needs a legitimate business purpose, such as managing work and visits. Tell reps what is collected and why, and limit it to what you need, typically working hours. This is general information, not legal advice. Check your own policy with an employment lawyer.
Yes, if it records trips. SARS expects each business trip logged with date, destination, purpose and kilometres, plus opening and closing odometer readings for the tax year. Orbit SA builds this from the rep's GPS trips and exports it at tax time.
Reps can be live on Orbit SA the same day they install the app. Bringing your history across takes longer. We have moved a national distributor's seven years of visit reports and more than 8,000 photos from its previous field app.
In South Africa, usually yes. Customers place orders, send photos and complain on WhatsApp. If those messages live only on a rep's personal phone, the business loses them when the rep leaves.
Put two reps on Orbit for a week and judge it by your own map, reports and logbook.
